Royal Court 70th Anniversary Season

The 70th anniversary season at the Royal Court Theatre is a bold celebration of seven decades at the forefront of new writing, honouring the stage that has continually redefined contemporary drama since 1956.

This landmark programme spotlights revivals of era-defining works by John Osborne and Caryl Churchill, alongside tributes to the revolutionary voices of Sarah Kane, Mark Ravenhill, Jez Butterworth, and Debbie Tucker Green. The season also celebrates the Court’s enduring commitment to international and boundary-pushing artists, recognising the impact of writers such as Wole Soyinka and Annie Baker, while unveiling powerful new commissions from the next generation of theatrical trailblazers.

The season comprises 12 productions across its two stages. Artistic director David Byrne said of the season: “Everybody back to ours. The Royal Court is turning 70 with the most thrilling season we could imagine. On our stages and far beyond, we’re throwing a legendary, year-long party and you’re all invited.”

Throughout 2026.
